Alan Fong

Dr Fong is Consultant Cardiologist at the Sarawak Heart Centre, Kota Samarahan, and Head of the Clinical Research Centre, Sarawak General Hospital, Kuching. He graduated from University of Bristol in 1999. He is Adjunct Professor of Swinburne University of Technology and Adjunct Lecturer at the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.

He was elected Fellow, American College of Cardiology; and Fellow, European Society of Cardiology, in 2011. He is also Fellow of the Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology, the Society of Angiography and Interventions, ASEAN Federation of Cardiology and of the National Heart Association of Malaysia. He remains a member of the American Heart Association.

He is member of the Executive Council and Scientific Advisory Board of the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology. He is the current Vice President of the National Heart Association of Malaysia. He is also a member of the Sarawak Research and Development Council.

Research interests

Dr Fong’s areas of research interests include Cardiovascular Imaging and Biomarker Research, particularly in acute coronary syndrome (ACS); and in cardiovascular pharmacology. He advocates individualized therapies and precision medicine initiatives in contemporary clinical practice. He is also the current chairperson of the Steering Committee of the Malaysian National Cardiovascular Disease (NCVD) – ACS Registry.
